Start with the document outline
Open the navigation pane in Word and check heading levels. Review long lists and nested lists for expected indentation and numbering.
Check tables and page breaks
The document contains editable tables rather than screenshots. Very wide tables may need landscape page settings or narrower columns in Word; a browser converter cannot infer your preferred print layout.
Review losses explicitly
Raw HTML is ignored and diagram fences remain code. The report highlights these cases. Make replacements in the Markdown and regenerate, or edit the DOCX deliberately after preserving the source.
Use a short editorial acceptance pass
Convert a representative section before a complete report. Include a heading hierarchy, a numbered list, a table, a footnote, an image and one equation if your document uses them. Open the DOCX and confirm that these elements have the expected structure. A file that opens successfully can still require editorial changes to spacing, wrapping or pagination.
Check that heading levels reflect the document outline rather than merely looking bold. Read the first and last table cells, follow a footnote marker and inspect a long URL. Markdown does not describe every Word layout choice, so page breaks, widows, captions and final table widths may need adjustment in your destination editor after conversion.
Raw HTML in the Markdown is ignored and reported; it is not a route for embedding arbitrary web page layouts in Word. If an essential section was written entirely as HTML, rewrite it using supported Markdown or insert an appropriate local image. The converter's warnings are part of the review, especially when the source came from a web export.
Keep separate source and reviewed-output versions, for example report-source.md and report-reviewed.docx. If collaborators edit the DOCX, decide which format is authoritative before generating it again. This workbench does not merge subsequent Word edits back into Markdown and does not apply an uploaded company template automatically; handle final house styling in Word when needed.
